Matthew is a highly specialised Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. He has over nine year's experience working in specialist NHS settings including addictions and general psychotherapy services. He has worked in eating disorders services for the last six years.

Matthew has undergone specialist training and supervision with leading experts in the field of CBT. As well as being an accomplished cognitive therapist, Matthew offers schema therapy for complex and longstanding psychological disorders.

Alongside his private practice, Matthew leads the outpatient department of an NHS eating disorders service (one of the largest in the UK). He is an active researcher and has published on pioneering subjects including schema therapy for eating difficulties, the internal "anorexic voice", and the use of experiential techniques in CBT. He regularly presents at international conferences and provides psychotherapy training to other mental health professionals.

Matthew completed his bachelor's degree in Psychology at Surrey University, graduating with First Class honors. He qualified as a Clinical Psychologist with University College London (UCL) and completed post-doctoral training in CBT with Royal Holloway University. He is currently training as an Advanced Schema Therapist. He is an Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society, is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, and accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP).

Dr. Pugh offers individual therapy sessions in Amersham (Buckinghamshire).
